In 2020, Yuntech joined local health organizations to discuss and promote a number of health and well-being-related policy issues to improve the sustainability of local SDGs. We established the “Government-Academia Cooperation Platform of Yunlin County” with the local county government and health institutions and signed the “MOU of Yunlin Place Making Cooperation”, which is used to maintain mutual administrative support between the local government and YunTech and other local universities, and to promote local government-academia cooperation. We hope that through mutual assistance and integration of different academic expertise of universities, we can complement each other’s resources and establish cooperative links with the county government to implement local creative policies and promote the transformation of Yunlin’s remote villages.

Yunlin County has officially announced the “Launch of SDGs in Yunlin” at the 2020 County Council meeting, requiring all government bureaus to review their governance and produce the first Voluntary Inspection Report of the local government. A total of 491 policies were included in the report, and three major highlights were proposed: “sustainable agriculture, major health industry, and green model economic development”. National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) will build the first national-level research center for geriatric medicine and health and well-being, which can be combined with the inter-generational coexistence house planned by the local government. Also, it will establish an Age Fitness Club in cooperation with YunTech to realize the new policy vision of the local government’s 2030 sustainable development step by step.

YunTech starts with a people-oriented approach, with health promotion as the main goal, including all aspects of the middle-aged and elderly people, from the living environment, assessment and testing, to aging exercises, and the overall introduction of technology. At the same time, all the supporting organizations or teachers have long been cooperating with local health institutions, such as National Taiwan University Hospital, National Cheng Kung University Hospital, Joseph Hospital, and Rossmax International Ltd. (major at medical technology), making themselves internationally to integrate new technologies.

YunTech adopts a teaching model that allows students to study and solve problems in the classroom in terms of questions set by the industry and introduces the concept of SDGs to implement sustainable development. YunTech has been working with local and governmental health organizations to improve health and well-being in recent years.

Project 01. Cooperation between Yunlin Christian Hospital and YunTech – AI Medical Training Workshop
Introduce big data, artificial intelligence, image recognition processing, cloud computing and other technologies to hospital professional medical personnel and related administrative personnel, and discuss the medical application of these technologies with participants.

Project 02. Using design thinking to improve the effectiveness of adult smoking cessation services to develop a distance counseling approach
Cooperate with the National Health Administration of the Ministry of Health and Welfare to assist the health bureaus of Miaoli, Taichung, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung, Hualien, Yilan and other counties in a design-thinking way to produce innovative service plans for adult smoking cessation.

Project 03. Utilizing design thinking to help students, adults, and elderly, developing strategies to promote physical activity and a balanced diet
In cooperation with the Yunlin County Health Bureau, it includes colleagues and volunteers from the health clinics of 20 towns and cities in Yunlin County to create a sustainable and healthy living environment for all towns and cities in Yunlin to promote the health of the people.

Project 04. New Media Promotion and Effectiveness Tracking Program for Drug Abuse Prevention Materials
This project uses new media as the presentation medium for the content of the teaching materials, and has been tested by questionnaires to verify the influence of new media as teaching materials on the cognition and attitude of drug abuse prevention and treatment.

YunTech continues to promote “sustainable social development and health promotion services” through community relations, liaison with schools, government organs, local health service agencies or community organizations, to arouse the awareness of community health and well-being, establish partnerships with schools, community agencies or personnel and jointly create a healthy community.

Health outreach programmes

All the stadium’s sports facilities are open to the public including: track and field, basketball court, volleyball court, tennis court, baseball field, gymnasium, swimming pool, ice rink, etc. Basketball courts, volleyball courts, and athletics are all shared with the general public for free.

In addition, gymnasiums, swimming pools, rhythmic classrooms, etc., can be applied for a paid group borrowing based on the regulations of the YunTech sports venue.

Each semester of the school provides relevant courses to establish a network of safe sex education, providing teachers and students with correct knowledge on AIDS and sex, to promote a healthy lifestyle to the teachers and students.

Every semester, Counseling Center handles courses and lectures on “gender relations” or “gender education”

The Counseling Centre in this School provides free mental health support services for teachers and students, including: “Development Counseling”, “Interventional Counseling”, and “Treatment Counseling”, which functions as a three-level prevention framework. Using the “College Psychologist System” as an executive window, the school carries out “Psychological Health Education Promotion”, “Case Management and Counseling Services”, “Crisis Case Handling “, and integrates resources inside and outside the school to have a campus that promotes positive mental health.

During the severe epidemic in 2020, schools have adopted a remote teaching policy. In order to enable students to still enjoy counselling services at home, the counseling and counseling center of our school applies for approval from the competent authority to implement communication counseling through video, voice, and continue to provide students with counseling and care through emails, various counseling activities are also handled online, and we continue to update the epidemic prevention and peace of mind publicity, so that students can still enjoy counseling resources and strengthen their spiritual growth when they are not at school.
