Non-Discrimination [Admissions Policy]

In 2022, YunTech formulated Admissions Specifications for Each Academic System as a non-discriminatory admissions policy.

YunTech commits to non-discriminatory in the admissions, in compliance with Article 13 of Taiwan R.O.C. Gender Equity Education Act: Educational institutions conducting recruitment or giving approvals for admission are not permitted to treat any prospective student differently on the basis of their gender, gender traits, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

YunTech Institutional Research and Planning Center measure/track admissions of underrepresented groups including ethnic minorities, low income students, women, and disabled students annually. The results are publicly published in Accountability Report.

Recruitment programs for underrepresented groups

Student
YunTech’s four-year enrollment program provides admission for indigenous people, economically disadvantaged students (from low-income households), out-of-island students, and students with disabilities. Quotas set for the indigenous students, disadvantaged students, and out-of-island students account for 2%, 2%, and 2% respectively. Half of the departments in the school provide protection quotas for students with physical and mental disabilities, with a registration rate of 92.41%.

In order to comply with relevant laws and regulations (Article 38 of the Law on the Protection of the Rights and Interests of the Disabled) and fulfill its social responsibilities, YunTech has provided a full number of faculty and staff with proof of disability (48-51 people) to assist the disabled to become an independent self. Also, the counseling center recruits disabled students as part-time assistants or hire additional assistants and staff with disabilities by the school fund from time to time.
YunTech also provides at least 4 guaranteed job opportunities for indigenous people.

YunTech has established the Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility Committee to oversee sustainability matters, including equality, diversity, and inclusivity. The committee is chaired by the university president and consists of four task groups responsible for executing sustainable initiatives. The Sustainable Development and Social Practice Research Center functions as the supervisory and coordinating unit.

The Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility Committee serves as the supervisory body for EDI policies, programs, and training. The implementation of EDI policies is assigned to the following units:

  • Office of Secretariat: Responsible for formulating policies, regulations, and educational planning related to gender equality.
  • Counseling Center: Engages in gender equality education advocacy and provides assistance for individuals with disabilities.
  • Student Affairs Office: Assists economically and culturally disadvantaged groups and indigenous communities.
  • Academic Affairs Office: Develops and implements policies for the admission of individuals with disabilities, economically and culturally disadvantaged groups, indigenous communities, and island residents.
  • Personnel Office: Formulates and implements EDI-related regulations and handles complaints regarding violations of EDI policies.
